Dr. Desselle recieved his bachelor of science in zoology and his Masters in physiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before receiving his MD degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed a residency in General Psychiatry at LSU HSC NO and a forensic psychiatry fellowship from the University of Maryland. He is board certified in general and forensic psychiatry.

He has been a staff psychiatrist at Ochsner since 2005, is a senior lecturer with the University of Queensland Ochsner Clinical School, and Associate residency training director the the LSU/Ochsner Psychiatry residency. His primary clinical focus is treating mood and anxiety disorders. He is the medical director of the Behavioral Medicine Unit, Ochsner's outpatient day treatment program for patients with suffering from depression and anxiety.
